(no subject)
Mar. 12th, 2003 11:47 amAnother update on previous stress levels:
I'm not big on being the bearer of (potentially) bad news. I didn't know that B was unaware of the situation (see comments to previous entry) and it felt a bit like when I called my mother to tell her Dave had died. Definitely one of those memories I could do without. Fortunately, it seems the prognosis in this case is good. A can now walk about (slowly), but will likely not be terribly active for the next few weeks.
In other news: new body armor is now being developed for fighting, I'm just trying to figure out a way to work the designs I want into the leather. The downside: I haven't found any examples of leather breastplates from the Viking period to justify my work. Carving designs into leather isn't socumentable until 1300 or so, 300 years and a couple of countries away from what I'm looking to do. However, designs I had in mind are documented for leather decoration, and tooling designs (pounding or pressing lines and bits with punches made of antler, wood, or metal) is period. Painting leather is also period, though of course, I have no idea as to whether anyone actually bothered to paint their armor.
Ordered more cow in hope of working on another project, details will follow as its success is determined. I've realized that I'm great at coming up with plots and schemes, but my track record for following them through to completion is kinds spotty. I managed to improve my timeliness over the past few years, I'd like to work on this next.
I'm also having some awful flashbacks to my Alpha Psi Omega presidency now...
