Jan. 21st, 2003 11:11 amOn the one hand, I've been terribly jealous of a number of people lately. The gyms here have either been closed or unaccessible to me due to work constraints, and this is at a time when I *really* need to work out for stress relief. I've been feeling fat, and I really wanted to have a fitness plan as part of my goals for this year. I would like to be able to fit into a fairly universal "XL" shirt, and that requires reducing my gut significantly. Being in that shape will also mean I can put on armor and fight for more than 5 minutes without hawking up a lung.
Last night, I decided to try my hand with my yoga ball again... 20 crunches on that and my back and gut are screaming. It's a good thing, both to point out how out of shape I am and to know that I'm doing something about it. Well, I was using it to do some pushups, and out went my shoulder. Gone. Screaming pain. I couldn't even reach over to set my alarm clock at the end of the night. This is the same shoulder my doc told me once upon a time "oh, it's just like tennis elbow. Be nice to it and it'll be fine." (Bollocks. I've been nice to it and it has never been fine since)
So this morning I called the doc's office. He doesn't even want to bother seeing me, he just shunted me off to an orthopaedic specialist. He's booked solid until next week, but at least I know that I now have a specialist on the case. Advil has been working wonders in the meantime. I think I'm going to try hitting the gym for some cardio work in the meantime... that's not too stressful on the afflicted joint
