I have to say that Mistress Malchia and her whatever the fuck he is have singlehandedly made me immensely proud to be anything *other* than a Concordian.
Who's Mistress Malchia? Just because there are a couple of dopes in a group doesn't mean the entire group is flawed. If good people step up, usually the idiots go away, and I know that Toki needs good people. Make Concordia better yourselves, yo. ;)
As I mentioned above, Mistress Malchia actually had nothing to do with this particular flurry of feces. This was all the doing of her male counterpart. My own experiences with Malchia have rather permanently esconced her on my personal shit list.
This post was meant more as a terribly cruel exercise in pointing and laughing at the people who are stuck with them. In context, they manage to make what is going on in Myrkfaelinn that much more bearable.
hippie kids that grew up. She's OK, for the most part, but she's gotten... old, in the past 20 years, rather than just growing up. Became conservative in her outlook.
Her husband, on the other hand, is a knight from Meridies, who finds himself a transplant in the Central Region of the East Kingdom. In a region where people do not suck up to knights the same way that they did in Meridies. They suck up differently. Where fighters argue with marshalls over Robert of Auk meant when he states in the armor standards, "Street hockey gloves are NOT equivalent. Street hockey gloves may be used in tandem with a demi-gauntlet and basket hilt. Street hockey gloves may also be used behind a shield in tandem with a shield basket." And regional marshalls when asked about this reply "I have no idea."
He was right. And Wulfie knows better, he just doesn't care. Andre is stuck in an untenable position. He's a knight, and therefore a marshall. He was doing his job. He just did it as a tempertantrum, rather than productive discussion.
Doesn't make him any less of a jerk, however. Or make Wulfstan any less wrong. You don't get to pick and choose which rules in the SCA you're going to follow.
I have spoken to Wulfie, and he explained the rest of the circumstances behind him not having shoes on when he fought. All he had with him were sandals, which would have been worse for him than fighting barefoot.
However, if he hadn't fought barefoot, there would have been no demo.
The question is, are the rules cast in stone, or are they simply guidelines? I regard them as what I have to follow to do my job correctly as a marshall. Some folks regard them as a set of guidelines to follow.
